Los Angeles
Artcards brings you to art April 13, 2010

Weekly Outlook

Welcome to this week in art in LA:

Role, rolling Roll em,
To engage and expand on the many roles an artist plays
catalysts of change and icons of reinvention,
It's all about the reaction..
as I drive the landscape of Sunset Strip with my radio on scan
It creates its own video
As I ponder what are we selling from perceived power to real power.

To continue the dialogue may I suggest conversations and film in Los Angeles to view and take part in this week:

1. Banksy's film Exit Through the Gift Shop opens this week to the public. My review on Artcards Review is coming soon.

2. Thursday evening at 7pm at Sci-Arc, a panel discussion How Many Billboards? The Visual Ecology of Advertising and Architecture. Participating panelists include: Bill Roschen, Principal, Roschen van Cleve Architects Anne Bray, Freewaves, Mirjam Struppek, President, International Urban Screens Association, Alan Bell, Senior City Planner, City of Los Angeles, Dennis Hathaway, President, Coalition to Ban Billboard Blight.

3. Saturday April 17th at 3pm at Outpost Center for Contemporary Art, artist Paul Pescador will speak on how social networks and communal environments interact.

4. Saturday April 17th, 12:30 to 10pm is the monthly Miracle Mile Art Walk, a lovely way to stroll down a Saturday. While en route, be sure to pop by
Country Club Projects at the Schindler House with Fritz Chestnut's
exhibition Peak and Flow.

6. Lastly, Monday April 19th 8:30pm at REDCAT Sharon Lockhardt will be on
hand at her screening of Lunch Break with Exit exploring  'the minute, humble signs of humanity' curated by Steve Anker and Berenice Reynaud.

So get out there, engage & enjoy!

All the best,

Alex Staiger
