Weekly Outlook
There are several lectures and conversations this week that might serve as a helpful way to elucidate some of the work exhibited at the Art Platform and Pulse fairs last weekend. Tuesday, October 4th, 7pm: John Baldessari and writer Christopher Knight will engage in what promises to be a rigorous discussion at the Hammer Museum. Wednesday, October 5th, 7-9pm: Bring a specialty dish to take part in the Spirit Resurrection Potluck at LACE, in connection with Pacific Standard Time. Artist Liz Glynn would like to hear your thoughts on how to recreate a citywide performance festival that originally took place in 1980, called Public Spirit / Live Art LA. Thursday, October 6th at Steve Turner Contemporary, 7:30pm: Lee Lynch and Marnie Weber will host a conversation about performance art and historical re-enactment in relation to a video installation by Lee Lynch entitled, "The Murder of Hi Good." Look at the event listings for Pacific Standard Time for more panel discussions, lectures and performances. While you're not drafting clever questions for these enlightening group discussions, this might also be a good week to start planning out your Halloween costume. Hello October.
