Welcome to art in Los Angeles. The editors at Artcards would like to express our sorrow for the loss of artist Mike Kelley (1954-2012). If you would like to add to a memorial for this influential artist, you can help re-create Kelley's 1987 piece entitled, "More Love Hours Than Can Ever Be Repaid and The Wages of Sin," by contributing stuffed fabric toys, afghans, dried corn, or wax candles. Location: End of Tipton Way near Tipton Terrace, off Figueroa St. in Highland Park, 90042. At the end of Tipton Way there is an abandoned driveway next to an empty lot. Pick up some reading material this Saturday at Various Small Fires, 10am-4pm: Book Affair will function as both a fair and a temporary library and will take place within the current installation, "Murals and Print" by Fiona Connor. Book Affair will also feature furniture made specifically for the event by various artists and designers including Tahi Moore, Joshua Nathanson, Michael Ned Holte, and Fiona Connor among others. Later, an exhibition at ACME entitled, "Traces," features sculptures and wall works that address different approaches to mark making using everyday materials, with work by Kelly Cline, Erik Lindman, and Christopher Miller. Saturday, 6-8pm. Did it rain today? Lee Foley Editor, Artcards Los Angeles Editor's Picks
