Weekly Outlook
Last weekend I jumped out of NYC and up to Wassaic, NY for their annual art festival. The overall-excellent artwork held your attention amidst the surrounding architectural quirkiness of the once mill and animal auction house. Tough northbound traffic made for a long trip to the event, but all stress released after one drink from a children's lemonade stand, one tea from an uber-organic local, and one beer from the event's keg. Looking back at the event, it could be a more sustainable way for art fairs to grow and spread in a way that is more about artists and community and less dependent on flashy headlines and huge sales. In the spirit of summer / artists / fun, join us Saturday at White Slab Palace where Artcards Review Editor Helen Homan Wu curates an evening of live music, visuals, performances and installations. It's free, in the Lower East Side, and going to be a great time for artists and friends. You may already know what you want to see, but if you're looking for a chance run-in with Artcards staffers, check out the Camera Club of New York on Wednesday, Ramiken Crucible (and perhaps Broadway Gallery) on Thursday, and White Slab Palace on Saturday.
