Artcards brings you to art September 13, 2011

Weekly Outlook

Last week the art season started strong, led by the Lower East Side, and continued in Chelsea where I bumped into Ben Stiller (check Artforum's Scene & Heard for pics).

This coming week is going to be truly awesome as it seems many galleries waited until now to open their first shows of the fall. This week, Wednesday has a more limited, but strong showing of Lower East Side gallery openings (CANADA, Swiss Institute, Ramiken Crucible, and Laurel Gitlen). Midtown Wednesday: Marian Goodman and Marianne Boesky Gallery both look great.

Thursday powerhouse shows at Greene Naftali, Agnes Martin 80's paintings at Pace, Rosy Keyers at Peter Blum, and Jenny Saville at Gagosian's uptown space.

Friday more cool events: KANSAS in downtown, Spencer Brownstone, 303, Gagosian Chelsea, and Man Bartlett's potluck/performance in Bushwick.

Saturday, Matthew Barney at Gladstone, and The Invisible Dog in Brooklyn.

I highly recommend going out this week: looks like one of those weeks when great art and many openings converge.
