Weekly Outlook

Tonight, FLAG Art Foundation has a public viewing for "Re-Accession: For Sale by Owner," curated by Philae Knight and Amanda Steck. It may be too soon to assess the economic downturn's effect on the art world; however, an underlying optimism and direct confrontation of the the issue in this show is refreshing. As the press release concludes: "Work still gets made, artists find new representation, and while struggle through these times is unquestionable for them, this show hopes to provide the public with a view towards the shifting climate of exposure and how audiences connect to the art world." For a curious, self-help performance, check out "Master Cleanse" at Kate Werble Gallery: 4-8pm Tuesday and Wednesday visitors will experience a performance by two young artists who touch on the world best known to infomercials, or what the artists refer to as "American leisure pastimes: mixing drinks, motivational speaking, real estate speculation, multi-level marketing, boating, and vacation planning." Throughout the week there are openings, screenings, lectures and tours (all listed below) -- hope to see you out there!
