We are in the thick of the season and I've fallen behind on seeing many on the long list of shows -- Artcards is here to help you and me to catch up! This Thursday, galleries on 57th street stay open late (6-8pm) -- these galleries are mostly home to lesser known openings with shorter invite-lists than Chelsea, so this is a great chance to see what 57th street has to offer: more conservative art aimed at older crowds, and art that may more often be seen at an auction than a contemporary gallery. For Chelsea/LES/Brooklyn gallery-goers, this will be refreshing and I strongly recommend you check the galleries out. In addition there are galleries like Marian Goodman that show in vogue artists, who by-and-large do great, if predictable, work (plan on bumping into the Columbia crowd here). Tonight in Chelsea, "Seven Easy Steps: Social Improvement" opens at Horton & Liu. Several promising young artists including Susana Gaudencio show videos in this series curated by Amanda Schmitt, the Assistant Director of SUNDAY L.E.S. with a fresh eye for new art.
