Artcards brings you to art November 3, 2009

Weekly Outlook

A huge week ahead with plenty of highlights, but first some shows need mention from an inspiring last week: First and most notably, Urs Fischer's "Marguerite de Ponty" show fills three floors of the New Museum and is an excellent play of scale, weight, perception, and surprise (a tongue popping out of the wall!) that, in sum, form an enriching and fun experience into another world. Last Thursday a trio of great shows opened that I highly suggest checking out: Olaf Breuning at Metro Pictures, Simon Starling at Casey Kaplan, and Maya Gold at Mike Weiss.

This coming week lectures abound: Jerry Saltz's booksigning on Wednesday, followed up on Thursday by Roberta Smith's lecture at the New School and Elizabeth Peyton at SVA.

And plenty of new openings ahead: Thursday night is busy in Chelsea and Dumbo, and Friday night many Williamsburg galleries stay open late. Scan the list below to find great events throughout the week -- enjoy!
