Weekly Outlook
It's First Thursday!* So run around from 5:30-7:30pm to take advantage of San Francisco 18 year-old downtown tradition of art openings galore. If you just make it to one building don't miss 49 Geary. Haines Gallery is holding a reception for David Maisel's History's Shadow, ethereal photographs of the soul. Walk on over to Altman Siegel and view the group show featuring Zarouhie Abdalian, Keller/Kosmas and Matt Sheridan Smith. But who wants to check out just one building when there's art all over the place? Walk a few steps down Geary and through the doors of number 77 and head to Patricia Sweetow Gallery to view the work of Jamie Vasta, After Caravaggio. Now shuffle those feet one block north and a few blocks west to Hespe Gallery at 251 Post Street and you will experience nature's intimacy in the paintings of Eric Zener. Finally it's Friday, but don't slow down after First Thursday, Mauve? (Gallery 1044) is having a Book Launch: Mauve? Journal Release Party at 1044 Larkin Street from 7-9pm. Okay Saturday, kick ass week of creativity, top it off with Kristofferson San Pablo "Mania II" at Maniac Gallery on Leavenworth Street from 7:30-10pm. See you out there. *Correction: I miss guided you in last week's Weekly Update by telling you it was SF's First Thursday, when it was actually the last Thursday of March. Tricky. -------------- New on Artcards Review: - "Featured Gallery: Dodge Gallery" by Amanda Schmitt - "Unsound Labs Photo Recap" by Helen Homan Wu - "Who's Afraid of Ai Weiwei?" - "To Victor Hasselblad (Lecture by Sophie Calle)" by Helen Homan Wu Editor's Picks
