Weekly Outlook
We're in the midst of the classic bay area summer of clouds which may or may not part by day's end. But we mustn't let a sort of seasonal affective malaise bring us down, there is tons of fun to be had. For example, as part of FAX, a traveling exhibition at the San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries, has included a series of public events, and this Thursday Kevin Killian will be presenting Box of Rain, a play written by Killian and designed by Matt Gordon. It is described as: When a San Francisco gallery installs a new fax machine, astounded staff is confronted with the possibility of regular communication between the living and the dead. "Walk into splintered sunlight, inch your way through dead dreams, to another land." Curiously Direct Picks The SFMOMA is certainly worthy of attention this next month or two, with constant screenings and life performances as part of Cindy Sherman's retrospective, and the excellently installed Stage Presence, organized by the consistently thought provoking media department and its curator Rudolf Frieling. I need to visit again to take all of this in, but I definitely recommend making it over to the big box institution as often as one can afford (or via hook or by crook, as they say) Editor's Picks
