Weekly Outlook
Lets get right down to business, it must be noted the Lutz Bacher show at the reopened Ratio 3 is wonderful; strange, serious, punctuated by an odd sense of humor. And the new space is spectacular, certainly the nicest exhibition site in the Bay Area outside of (and perhaps including) the large institutions. Lots of light and space, intriguingly not quadrilinear, the new Ratio 3 sets a pretty high bar. The whole thing, show and space, is a must see.
It’s a big week of openings, with the large Nayland Blake show at YBCA an obvious highlight, but we here at Art Cards will miss much as we’ll be out of town, attending the Institutions By Artists conference in Vancouver. We will keep a running commentary going on Twitter, do some writing for Vancouver based web publication DECOY Magazine, and get around to some Canadian Curiously Directing. Curiously Direct Pick Jessica Silverman//Jason Kraus: Edits= A solo show by the artist of sculptures, paintings and drawings which more accurately refuses those categories. This is a bizarre and wonderful presentation of the relics of artistic practice, versus the normal products expected(…) I can as easily imagine this being a frustrating show to someone differently inclined. With that caveat, highly recommended.
