Weekly Outlook
While hearing stories of winter storms in the east, we here in the bay wonder if we’ll get a few drops this week, which is to say, its always lovely weather to go see some art. During what may be a rainy night, perfect for anything film noir, Ming Wong’s complex, multi-channel video work Making Chinatown will be shown Wednesday at the Kadist as part of their current string of 24-hour exhibitions (24 hours spread over the opening and several weekends viewing hours) As a fan of Wong’s work we’re quite excited to see this hard to stage installation which muddies the lines between the work and the making of the work. In the mood for more video? There will be a screening in conjunction with the exhibition Mere Top, with works by Anne Walsh, Chris Vargas & Greg Youmans, Cybele Lyle, and Torreya Cummings, all of whom make work we like a ton. Curated by Christina Linden, at Royal NoneSuch Gallery, the show itself is all video and full of surprising moments. Curiously Direct Picks Museum stuff… I saw and liked Rudolf de Crignis: MATRIX 245 and Apichatpong Weerasethakul: MATRIX 247 at the Berkeley Museum, Without Reality There is No Utopia and Erin Shirreff: Lake at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and am excited to see soon the Trisha Donnelly New Works and Lebbeus Wood, Architect shows at SFMOMA. Editor's Picks
