Weekly Outlook
First Thursday, first Friday… ah, but, a sneaky holiday has interrupted the natural flow of things. It’s a quiet week around town. There are new shows at Ratio 3 and Jessica Silverman which look interesting, and of things I’ve seen Allison Smith show at Haines Gallery is worth visiting. Have I mentioned Vdrome? It’s “an online platform that offers regular, high quality screenings of films and videos directed by visual artists and filmmakers, whose production lies in-between contemporary art and cinema.” Which is to say, it is a website upon which a single video work is screened. And they are great pieces. They screen for a limited time and are replaced by a new release, each usually with an interview with the artist or someone connected to the production.
