Weekly Outlook
A quiet week, but there are quite a few group shows open already worth taking a peek at, including ones at Jessica Silverman, Altman Siegel, Eli Ridgway, The Popular Workshop (full disclosure the editors of art cards had a part in this one, and the one opening friday at Et al.), a pair of shows of new-to-the-gallery work at Steven Wirtz curated by represented artists Laurie Reid and Catherine Wagner, and Altar Space (especially a wide array of awesome, strange things by Jonah Suskind). A group show is best viewed on multiple scales; sometimes great works are hidden in group shows which don't do much as a whole while occasionally a great group show will lack a stand out work with the combination of pieces/practices coming together to make something interesting. There are some excellent works scattered throughout these spaces right now. Editor's Picks
