While a great number of older, established galleries are conglomerating in the Potrero Hill area, what is missing there so far is anything new… BUT, as is often the case in the bay area, there is much happening beyond such hub locations. In the next few weeks, I’ll share information on new spaces popping into our exciting scene. These are not reviews of them as I'm like you and haven't been to most of them; I'll simply post some of their about pages and their urls for further investigation.

Curiously Direct Picks
Alter Space//Practicing to Pretend= A group show of 2 and 3 D works; a mixed bag which never quite cohered. Evan Nesbit's paintings were nice (I could stand to see more of them), but the standouts here are a wide array of works by Jonah Susskind. 5 (or six?) works on different scales and in different materials, each with its only strange internal logic and humor. A group of climbing holds become the nodes for a geometric drawing; a wind chime made of clear acrylic hovers high overhead near a skylight... the show is okay but Susskind's pieces are specifically a must see.
