Weekly Outlook
Another week, another set of new art spaces to point to… here are a pair in Oakland. If you know of some new spaces I have yet to mention, please let me know. MOCO Oakland We have a modest idea. We envision a location for everyone to enjoy. Breaking down conventions of a gallery along with barriers implemented on artists, art and the observer. MOCO wants to stimulate the community around it, encourage and advocate Oakland artisans. There are exceptions to all rules, and rules were meant to be broken. By promoting and endorsing the uncommon, the unheard, the sometimes-artists, the outsiders, we aspire to bring diverse individuals & ideas together. Above all, we want to have fun sharing this space with you. http://mocooakland.com/ n/a n/a is an exhibition and event space with a focus on the queer experience in contemporary art practice, centered in oakland, california. gathering individuals and communities of diverse social and political backgrounds, n/a's programming aims to encourage critical dialog, lend legibility and visibility to queer artists and ideas, and produce new imaginaries. it is curated by nicholas andre sung > with the help of a community of organizers http://na-oakland.com/ Editor's Picks
