Sports! The Oakland A’s are down 5-4 in the fourth game of the ALDS as I type this, I’m hoping they pull it out and going on to the ALCS. Whats that? You like art and not sports? That’s cool, but when your coworkers or perhaps fellow artists keep bringing it up, when it pours unendingly into your Facebook feed, instead of getting annoyed take some time to think. Its pretty awesome that so many people are rooting for the same thing. What’s that? Sports is meaningless, with no real-world result to wins or losses etc.? Surely you can see how art would appear to be the same to those outside of its forbidding walls… Sports and art have problems, are too fixated on fame, corporate money, rewarding a VIP class etc., but in each sincere desire and hope still persist. So, as a sports fan (of all of the sports really, in addition to cheering for my favorite baseball, basketball and football teams I’ve been caught staring at motocross, golf, table tennis, pool…) here’s wishing the Oakland A’s good luck. The bases are loaded, no outs, top of the 8th… Editor's Picks
