At a group show at Alter Space earlier this, Jonah Susskind’s work stood out from the rest. Each of his pieces had its own peculiar mixture of materials and imagery which somehow made sense as from a single artist; indeed, I thought at the time that Susskind’s works subtracted from the group show (which had many other good artist's works) would themselves make an excellent solo show. Friday we’ll get the next best thing: a solo show of the artist’s work at City Limits. It is this space’s inaugural show, after existing for a period in the outer mission From their about page: “For each exhibition, emerging Bay Area artists or curators are invited to exhibit new works which deviate from their typical art practice or discipline.” I am hopeful this specific mission will result in exciting shows, with artists given license to explore the odder nooks of their craft.
