Weekly Outlook
It’s a big week of openings and events… I’m excited to see a lot of what will be happening in downtown SF on Thursday. James Sterling Pitt will be having his first show at Gallery Paule Anglim. He is someone I have worked with personally and whose work I follow closely, so I can’t wait to see how his practice fits into the gallery’s varied roster. Altman Siegel’s next show looks to be good, a solo show of Laeh Glenn’s smart, strange paintings. And on that note… an idea discussed a while back was having a single show reviewed by multiple people, and this is moving forward with the first being the Laeh Glenn show. The reviews will be short, (250 word limit… I know, short) and anyone can write one. To participate email your review by no later than February 2nd to mrharbour@gmail.com. Every submission will be published, with a select few published together on Art Practical (up to their editorial discretion) and those not published on Art Practical shared via Curiously Direct on Facebook. The project will be under the title Set Theory, and I'll be sure to remind you as the deadline approaches. From AP: “Our hope is that by publishing four (hopefully divergent) takes at once, reviews will actually be a bit more dialogic and that by giving writers an assignment you'll get taken out of your aesthetic comfort zone.” And a correction, last week I used the wrong name for George Lawson. Frequent readers of these emails will have noted the occasional misspelling and bad grammar, it is something I'll try to clean up. Editor's Picks
