Artcards brings you to art February 18, 2014

Weekly Outlook

When an individual is motivated to organize exhibitions and artists are willing to forgo a typical white cube, the back space of a retail store can be a perfect site for a show. Quintessa Matranga has begun curating shows at Mission Comics, and so far they've been great. The first show featured Austin English; English's strange drawings work perfectly as either wall-art or the content of zines - a perfect introduction to what could be done at the space. Next up is untitled installation by one of our favorite artists Bryan Morello. Its opening is Friday from 6-9pm. Morello is no stranger to odd spaces having done splendid installations in both the backroom gallery at the former Adobe Books space and in the tiny gallery 1 at Important Projects; I can't wait to see what he brings to this new show, and like his show at Adobe, I look forward to snagging a book or two.
