Weekly Outlook
If the images of her recent shows at Metro Pictures and MOCA Cleveland is any guide (and from the press images, it seems like they are), the show opening Thursday at Altman Siegel of Sara VanDerBeek's work, Ancient Objects, Still Lives, will be very good. Her 2010 show at Altman Siegel featured a similar focus on peculiar, often geometric objects photographed in simple, still life compositions. But where as that show kept the color palette limited but relatively realistic, the new works illustrate objects in a strange violet-hued space; they read almost like cgi. I'll be glad to see these new pieces in person Thursday. Editor's Picks
