Artcards brings you to art October 21, 2014

Weekly Outlook

Last week I asked some questions, but also asked for questions from you.
There were two good proposals for things for Art Cards to share, both of which will go into the newly launched Curiously Direct website (more on that in a sec.)

A map of each neighborhood and their galleries, which will hopefully make it easy to make a day of 'downtown', 'dogpatch' etc. is a great idea.
And event listings such as these could really use non-art lectures and events, our scene would do well to be less cut off from the sciences and political goings on.

So, your Art Cards email author Aaron Harbour (me) has made a new website, Curiously Direct. My hope is to create a place for long and short form texts about art and other things. Right now, it is filled with ~100 texts, mostly by me or me in conjunction with Art Cards editor Jackie Im, and some of Im's own writing on music.

There will be a weekly email like this one, please sign up for it here

There will be hopefully around four to seven reviews a week. And various event calendars and maps are or will be integrated. I have started it in order to fill in some of the gaps in arts coverage; its a bit raw and buggy at times but I hope it'll do well by our little scene. PLEASE PLEASE let me know if there are things you want/changes you see need to be made etc.

Now for some questions, please send answers to curiousydirect@gmail.com .

How long have you been in the Bay Area? How long do you imagine you will stay?

If you are an artist, why are you in the Bay Area making art?

How do you support yourself?

Where have you lived previously/ was it more or less supportive of the arts?

Do you teach/want to teach?

What are your favorite Bay Area places to see art?

What does our scene need?

What does it do well?

Please share some great resources for artists / collectors / curators in the Bay Area
