Weekly Outlook

We're nearing the end of Harbour and Im runnin' this here newsletter and calendar, as we transition to CURIOUSLY DIRECT. So, if you like these weekly words, subscribe to our new newsletter.

Since last we chatted five more short reviews found their way onto Curiously Direct. But, more exciting than that, we have our first two long-form reviews written for the page by non-Harbour contributors. There is a thoughtful review of Markus Schinwald's recommended show at the Wattis by Jackie Im (no stranger to these parts). And Susannah Magers took on Alien She at YBCA, a show she liked.

As always, should you want to write for this new thing, it may be possible, so get in touch.

There is a lot going on this week, less than last week but still plenty to keep us busy including a two part talk at Kiria Koula by Paul Chan today and tomorrow at 6:30, and a solo show by Sean Raspet opening Friday at Jessica Silverman.

But what we're really excited about is The LAB telethon, running from noon on Saturday for 24 hours. Curator and general wonder woman Dena Beard has organized the biggest, strangest spectacle she could manage to hopefully pry from all of our hands a bit of our moneys to help support her attempts to resurrect The Lab. I won't go into the elaborate specifics of the event, but suffice it to say its gonna be amazing.

The only time I'll ever point one of these things out to you... here's The LAB's Kickstarter which is realistically creeping towards its goal but NEEDS OUR SUPPORT.

Outside of the school galleries, there are very few opportunities for artists to get large financial support and keys to a space to do new, exciting work. Think about it: when was the last time one (or less than fifteen) artists were given the whole downstairs of YBCA? Our community needs The LAB
