Weekly Outlook
Summer is still going strong with art openings worth highlighting and I have a few great links to share with you at the end. Gallery highlights include a performance tonight at White Slab Palace, a "Pop-Up Bookstore" at David Zwirner through Thursday, and the "Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Art & Law Residency Exhibition" at Maccarone on Saturday. In addition, some good events at the city's museums: a screening of "FLicKeR" at New Museum on Thursday, a live performance at the Whitney on Friday (during pay-what-you-wish hours), and another "Warm Up" event at MOMA PS1 on Saturday. Plus, events outside the city in Wassaic, Beacon, Bridgehampton, and East Hampton. Now for the links I wanted to share: - Weekly Featured Artist(s): Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Timothy Hull and The Accidental Egyptian - "Mall-terations" -- Helen Homan Wu reports on an interesting group of local architects and artists at work. - Gabriella Radujko reviews "Excavations Non Objective on the Upper West Side" - Lastly, see the personal stories, practice, and workspaces of emerging artists on a new site with extremely rich video: thisartist.tv Hope to see you out at the shows!
