Weekly Outlook
If the many exhibitions in connection with Pacific Standard Time have begun to seem overwhelming, refresh your perspective with something new and unfiltered at the UCLA MFA Exhibition this Thursday, with work by Tejpal S. Ajji, Sarah Cromarty, Veronique d'Entremont, Sarah Dougherty, Timo Fahler, Roxy Farhat, Laeh Glenn, Mathiew Greenfield, Masood Kamandy, William Kaminski, Becky Kolsrud, Owen Kydd, Ragen Moss, Marina Pinsky, Sean Shim-Boyle, Kim Ye, and David Zuttermeister. On Friday, Halloween weekend begins with "Cornfabulation," a collaborative exhibition by Aaron Curry and Richard Hawkins at David Kordansky Gallery. The press release describes the walkthrough experience as having the, "aura of an imaginary haunted house full of honky-tonk curiosities." This is a must see. While looking through the week's event listings I was naturally drawn to the exhibition at Thomas Solomon Gallery, "Announce." The exhibition highlights art event announcements from 1948 to 1982 in California. The ephemera has been collected over time and curated by John Baldessari, Dagny Corcoran, Rosamund Felsen, Morgan Fisher, Stanley and Elyse Grinstein, Lee Kaplan, Helen Lewis, Tom Marioni, Dave Muller, Allen Ruppersberg, Ed Ruscha, Alexis Smith, Judy and Stuart Spence. Note: I must make one small correction to last week's email announcement. I said that there was a closing party for Museum of Public Fiction's residency program this week, when in fact it is on Saturday, November 26th, so there is still plenty of time to see Grizzly Grizzly at The California Hotel. Happy Halloween!
