Weekly Outlook
As I listen to bands outside my window on Bedford, I think this could be a quintessential summer week: plenty of good group shows, outdoor events, museum events, and some new galleries opening their doors. Before you head out, check out the new covers on the Artcards homepage. We are thrilled to partner with Culturehall to feature four new artists every two weeks. The covers rotate daily and click through to a curated selection of artwork on Culturehall. Thursday night Chelsea offers a good mix: Andy Warhol's "Rain Machine (Daisy Waterfall)" at Nicholas Robinson Gallery, Michel Auder opens at both Newman Popiashvili and Zach Feurer, and promising group shows at Bortolami and Nicole Klagsbrun. Friday has more group shows, including "Please Jump Around Here" in Bushwick at Norte Maar's Storefront space. Saturday, former Deitch Projects directors Kathy Grayson and Meghan Coleman open a new space in SOHO called "The Hole." Sunday, museum events: P.S.1 celebrates with the "Young Architects Opening Day Celebration" and it's a great chance to check out the Greater New York show which is receiving positive reviews. Also Sunday, the Brooklyn Museum has a jazz concert in the sculpture garden. New on Artcards Review: - "Double Rainbow* as Lazy Tongs" a poem by Gabriella Radujko - "SENSEable Cities: Exploring Urban Futures" - Megan Seelie reports from the west coast. - "Summer Survey at ATM" - Helen Homan Wu on the recent show at ATM - "A Brighter Palette for the 2010 MTA Subway Map" - compare subway maps new and old, by Helen Homan Wu Editor's Picks
